Zhang Feng has had a deep connection with Hu Hong and Zhu Xi throughout his life. Because of this, this article is important to discuss and explain the relationship between Zhang Feng and Hu Hong and Zhu Xi.

 

1. Zhang Feng and Hu Hong

 

Hu Hong was the Siwei Sect of the Hunan School. He was born in the fourth year of Chongning (1105) of Emperor Huizong of Song Dynasty and died in the 31st year of Emperor Gaozong of Song Dynasty (1161). Although he was born in Jixi, Chong’an, Jianning (now Fujian), the Hunan School he founded was an important activity area with Hunan. Hu Hong’s thinking is connected with the theoretical thinking of the two Chengs. This important thing is that his father, Hu Anguo’s teachings were promoted.

 

Hu Anguo (1074-1138), whose courtesy name was Kanghou, was married. He was the author of the famous “The Age of Hu”. Although he had never visited Ercheng, he highly praised the character and academic knowledge of Ercheng. He claimed: “The way of Confucius and Mencius has not been passed down for a long time. Since brothers discovered it, they knew it could be learned. Now, students who learn Confucius and Mencius cannot avoid learning from it. They enter the room and do not rely on their own.”[ ii] “I have always been a teacher and friend of the three dukes of Xie, You and Yang, and I really respect it. If we talk about the teachings, we will come to you. What I see in “The Doctrine of the Mean” was taught by Teacher Mingdao (Cheng Hao); what I heard in “Year” was found by Teacher Yichuan (Cheng Tai).” [iii] This shows that the two Chengs of the Juan Yuanzong were particularly directly inherited from Cheng Tai, and he was also a teacher and friend of the two brothers of Cheng Gao, Xie Liangzuo, Yang Shi and You Zuoyi. The arrival of Hu’an and Cheng Men Gaodi started when he became an official in Hubei. After he failed to become a scholar in the fourth year of Emperor Zhezong of the Northern Song Dynasty (1097 AD), he served as a professor at Nanji, and then went from Nanji to Taiji PhD, and later promoted Hubei, Hunan and Chengdu. When Juanguo was an official in Hubei, Xie Liangzuo was also appointed as the Zhicheng County of Huicheng, Hubei. Xie Liangzuo’s identity and position were obviously lower than Juanguo, but Juanguo was very surprised at Xie Liangzuo’s honor to the later education ceremony. This shows Juanguo’s admiration for Yiluo, and at the same time confessed that as Xie Liangzuo served in Hubei, Luozuo was also spread in the land of Chu [iv]. For Luoxue, Juanguo not only respects and advocates the ruling, but also practices it in one’s own way and always seeks himself based on the principles of learning from the two generations. Therefore, thanks to Liangzuo, who was born in Zhu Zhen, Hubei Province (1072-1138) said: “Mr. Kang is like the snow in the snow and winter, all the grass has passed away, and the pines and cypresses are still beautiful.” [v] “History of the Song Dynasty: Ju’an Kingdom” also says: “Since crossing the river, Confucians have advanced and retreated, and they are named Anguo and Yin Yin.”

Because Hu’an Kingdom praised the two Chengs and was also a friend of the teacher and his brothers, Chengmen, Xie Liangzuo, Yang Jun and You Zuoyi, so he taught the teachings of Yiluo. Hu Hong grew up in the atmosphere of his father’s teachings. Hu Hong wrote his own “Speech” in his teenage years. When his father actively helped Yang Shi edit the Ercheng record, he also edited “Cheng Ziyayan” by himself based on the Ercheng record collected and retained by his father. Although “Cheng Zi Yayan” is no longer published and we cannot know its details, we can still use Hu Hong’s existing “Preface to Cheng Zi Yayan” and “Preface to Cheng Zi Yayan” to clarify his understanding and understanding of the two Chengs and his purpose of compiling “Cheng Zi Yayan”.

 

In the era when Hu Hong compiled “Cheng Zi Ya Yan”, the learning of the two Chengs was not only not the mainstream academic verbs at that time, and many people did not take it as a matter of learning the two Chengs. Hu Hong wrote in “Preface to the Preface to the Preface to the Cheng Zi Ya Yan”: “Someone laughed and said: It is not literary, and no one likes it. Their rules and actions are imitated by the ancients, and no one believes it. Their speech is only about opening the front; their words are governed, but they do not consider their effectiveness; they are the ultimate of circumspects.” [vi] However, in “Preface to the Preface to the Cheng Zi Ya Yan”, Hu Hong believed that in the Northern Song Dynasty, he said that in the Northern Song Dynasty, he said that Among the various academic schools, Wang Anshi learned “support”, European and Yangshui learned “pure in the passage”, and Su Zhi learned “stealing in the throne”. Only when the two Chengs learned truly inherited the teachings of Confucius and Mencius. He said: “If you speak without any literacy, you will be published by the mouth and recorded by the people. The teachings of teachers, the teachings, are all The country is the joy; the person who conveys it is the second. To cultivate the Chinese and to be proud of the foolish people is not his ambition. To imitate the ancients and not follow the customs of the world, it must be accused of the sages. To speak the truth, do not hire and distinguish, those who want to learn will be satisfied. To govern without being effective, follow the principles of heaven, and be crafted with time博取, and hope that it will be vain. …No one knows why, the teacher and the teacher’s gods cannot be obtained and measured. He is a human being, and can be transformed. I will regard it as the heaven. I shout! It is not as different as the King of Lu, Shun, and Wen, and it is also a fate. Although I have learned it for a long time. I have learned it today. , the prosperity of Sanchuan was the prosperity of Zhu and Si, so that the talents of the whole country had some support. After the strangeness of the ancient times, they were rude and violent in one day. Compared with Confucius’ “Year” and Mencius avoided Yang and Mo, his achievements were greatly improved. “[vii] Hu Hong’s emphasis on the learning of the two Chengs, regardless of his emotional understanding and cultivation of his family, was based on his own analysis, thinking and understanding, so he decided to learn the learning of the two Chengs by himself and his own responsibility. It can be seen that Hu Hong, who is still young, has established the ambition to study Yiluo.

 

In “Preface to Cheng Ziya’s Word”, Hu Hong said: “I regret that I was born late and could not offer sacrifices to the teacher’s door. I will gather his words, sit down and rest, and stay in an instant, because of hisWhat you say is what you say, and what you say is not what you say is what you can’t understand, then you will be taught by the teacher and the teacher. What’s wrong with it! Therefore, this collection of books is not something that dares to be conveyed by the person, so I will be self-ruled. ”[viii] This confession Hu Hongli’s picture was to truly understand and grasp the purpose of the two Chengs through the collection and collection of the two Chengs’ words and deeds, and to use it to guide his own words and deeds. However, Hu Hong compiled the “Cheng Zi Ya Yan” not just for “self-governing”. In the “Sub-Preface to Cheng Zi Ya Yan”, he wrote: “The teacher of Cheng Bochun and his younger brother Zheng Shu were born in heaven. At more than 500 years old, the true essence, the sect of Confucius and Mencius, and the teachings of the Six Paths were revived, but the atmosphere was still declining and not prosperous. Therefore, in the early death of Master Ming Dao, Master Ming, Master Ming, died when his elder brother Gao died. Master Yichuan, Master Yichuan, used his own strength to control the slaughter. Therefore, there are still no one in the six books, but Master Zhuan has no more. However, there are many people who are in charge of Zhang Ru. For more than ten years, Gao’s younger brother later passed away, so the prose of the teacher and the teacher was dispersed in various ways. Those who wandered around the world were all incorrect, and there was no complete version in the whole country. I know that the whole country is like a silence without a ship and oar, and if it is not a collection of things, it will be a sinner, and it will be a hard work to achieve it. ”[ix] Hu Hong believed that the Second Chengs, as the true inheritor of Confucius and Mencius, had a strong sense of prosperity to boost the world. Unfortunately, they passed away when “the wind was still declining but not prosperous”, and their records and words were scattered and wandering around and had no complete version.
